About this site:

This site was the result of becoming the "EpicSki Ambassador" (EpicSki went dark in April 2017) for the resort and being urged to do a write up as wonderful as Bob Peter's guide to Jackson Hole (hopefully now preserved over on Pugski.com) for my resort.  I immediately realized that my 4,300 (and now 8,100) pictures of the resort needed organizing just to come up with a sensible flow of things.  Weeks were spent using Windows Live Gallery to tag every single picture I owned.  Not being able to pare things down much, I changed my goal about what I wanted to do and decided to do an "interactive trail map".  Of course, as projects like this tend to do, the enormity of the undertaking just grew and grew.  Soon I was using up too much of the server space of another site just for construction.  I starting compressing files, but since I didn't want to lose too much picture quality, at length I began to realize that the site would have to move to its own domain.

None of the pictures taken from 2003 through the season of 10-11 were taken with this site in mind.  They were taken because they were beautiful views, or to help a friend analyze ski technique, or to document snow conditions for a given day.  Consequently, there are many pictures that are not the best documentation of a trail.  Compounding that problem, although I had 8100 pictures (as of summer 2015), I had close to 200 pictures for some trails and areas and NO pictures of others.  I worked on remedying that during the next three seasons, but was not entirely successful.  (After all, I'm there to SKI.)  So, the site will continue to add and replace pictures, even when it's "done".  I may also be adding NEW "trails" or "areas".  I''m always hearing of area names that are NOT on the trail map and that I need to track down and document.  These are areas spoken of just by locals.  I know it is possible that I may have skied them under other names and just not know that this "other" named area is an area already on this site under a different name.  There are some areas I don't expect EVER to visit and there may also be areas it never occurred to me to try.  So, expect that when things appear to be "done", they are NOT in fact done.  With 3000 acres, there is PLENTY of skiing!!

About me:

Skiing since the 1971-72 season, I am admittedly not only "old school", but pretty much "over the hill" as well.  I am more well known for my ability to put up with ANY weather than my ability to tackle tough terrain.  My family moved to the area from the Ice Coast in 2003 in order to escape the daily grind and find a better quality of life.  Depending on the season, I manage to ski about 65-70 days a year.  For the last fourteen seasons I finished most years in the top 100 or better on the resort's vertical tracking list, averaging 1.3+ million vertical feet a season.  Having survived a severe crash a few years back, I am not longer pushing any envelopes.  The knowledge of how long it takes to heal greatly influences where I go these days.  Nevertheless, I hope to add a few more pictures of some of the tougher trails for those who want them and to hit just another "new trail" or two this coming season.

Please note:  I do not give tours.  The mountain ambassador program is available for those wishing a friendly guide.  If you are a long time, ACTIVE poster on EpicSki or Pugski, you know how to reach me if you'll be in town.  This guide is my effort for others.
