Moe-Mentum

Also called "North Bowl".  Named after Tommy Moe in case you wondered...

Clicking on the photos enlarges them.  Photos are taken as you come down the hill.  They have been taken over several years, so conditions shown will vary depending on what was happening the day the particular photo was taken.  Photos looking back up the hill will be described as such.

Overview

  • Rated:
  • Type of trail:  Intermediate cruiser with some alternate routes available.  The upper part is not the best place to be on a foggy day since the trail faces south and there are few trees to cast shadows until you get about half way down.  Those prone to vertigo should avoid until visibility improves, as the pitch undulates quite a bit.
  • Proceed down the Ant Hill and hang a right.  Soon after you have a split in the trail.  The left, main, fork takes you to the same place as the right fork, which cuts below North Bowl Face and Schmidt's.  The right fork is convenient to test the snow conditions on those trails, but rejoins immediately with the left fork.  Lower down, another larger fork appears.  Both rejoin later as well.  The right fork just has different undulations than the left fork.

Trail overview as seen from No Name:

The Ant Hill comes down from Summit House in the upper left:

Trail as seen from the top, coming off the Ant Hill.

In the near distance the first hump divides the trail, the left fork being the "main" trail, with a small alternate off to the right.  In the distance, another fork is seen.  Both sets of forks converge back onto Moe-Mentum, adding variety to the trail, but not taking you any place different.

A nice "inversion" day.

The cut in the trees on the left side is the second fork returning to the mail trail.

This view is a track coming into Moe-Mentum from Elephant's Graveyard.  Coming in on the left is the second right fork of Moe-Mentum, the main trail is off to the right:
