North Fork

Clicking on the photos enlarges them.  Photos are taken as you come down the hill.  They have been taken over several years, so conditions shown will vary depending on what was happening the day the particular photo was taken.  Photos looking back up the hill will be described as such.

Overview

  • Rated:  Was , now .  They've finally acknowleged the tricky runout, I guess.
  • Type of trail:  Intermediate cruiser, BUT.  Starts out quite gently, but has a much steeper section toward the end and a "complicated" exit.  The first 80% of the trail is just great cruising.  Then, there's the "gotcha".
  • This trail is one of the new runs cut into the old Window Pane and Stumptown.
  • The final pitch can be somewhat intimidating during icier snow conditions.  There is usually an obstruction in the middle which causes the left hand side to be almost half-piped.  If you are unsure of your abilities, you should probably check out the condition of this pitch from the lift.  It can be seen just off to the left as you start up the chair.  Note any roots that may be hidden as you approach from above.

Continue past the above sign to the next exit:

Looking up the first section of the trail, quite gentle

Looking down hill from the same spot:

You can see the net-to-be opened upper section of Inside Road, coming in from the right.

Exit for Inside Road, off to the left:

Slightly further along, but before steepest pitch

Looking back up that same section

Looking down the steepest pitch

Looking up that same pitch

Looking down from roughly the same position

Exit area, mid season.

The exit can be confusing and lumpy early season.
