Ridge Run

Clicking on the photos enlarges them.  Photos are taken as you come down the hill.  They have been taken over several years, so conditions shown will vary depending on what was happening the day the particular photo was taken.  Photos looking back up the hill will be described as such.

Overview

  • Rated:
  • Type of trail:  Long, undulating, intermediate cruiser.
  • The trail is back over the skier's left as they get off the chair lift.
  • This trail follows the ridge line along the ski area boundary.  It gives glimpses of the Canyon Creek area (avalanche terrain) and the odd window over towards the rest of the back side of the resort, but is NOT particularly useful in terms of seeing what the back side has to offer.
  • The bottom section of this trail is quite a long cat track, which almost certainly requires some poling and even skating to return to the lift.  If you are a snow boarder or have small children with you, I wouldn't recommend it.  The alternative is to cut down through the trees if you have the expertise, passing across the first road you come to and then going left on the second.

The resort boundary rope runs along the skier's right.

Looking back up the section seen in the above picture:

There is a flat "saddle" area that can require some speed early season.  It seems to get better as the snow level increases.  Looking ahead:
