Ed's Run

(Called "Main Slope" way back when)

Clicking on the photos enlarges them.  Photos are taken as you come down the hill.  They have been taken over several years, so conditions shown will vary depending on what was happening the day the particular photo was taken.  Photos looking back up the hill will be described as such.

Overview

  • Rated:
  • Type of trail:  Intermediate cruiser with a consistent pitch.  Always groomed, but if it's snowing, some might consider it ungroomed as the day passes.  This ain't Deer Valley.
  • Take Chair Two and turn left as you exit the lift.  Pass the trail map and continue on and the trail will widen considerably.  On your right will be Hellroaring, on your left Ed's.  The statue of Jesus will be behind you.  Ed's brings you back to the village and to get to Chairs One or Two, you'll bear to the left.  This trail is open for night skiing when it is offered.  Beware of crazy drunk people straightlining it as it gets later.
  • If you come over from the Chair One area, you'll take Big Ravine down its first pitch, then exit onto Interstate on the right.  That will bring you to the top of Mully's, but continue across to get to Ed's.

View of the trail coming from the chairlift:

Ed's to the left, Hellroaring to the right:

This is always a good spot for views of light pillars on cold days:

View arriving from Interstate:

Ed's is off to the left.

View of the valley from the top of Ed's:

Views descending the pitch:

Light pillar, with faint sun dog over in the lower right:

Last pitch:

Hyper cooled humidity in the air is creating what we call diamond dust and a resulting light pillar.

Ed's is the large run coming down in the right in this picture, above Hellroaring Chalet:
