Heaven

Clicking on the photos enlarges them.  Photos are taken as you come down the hill.  They have been taken over several years, so conditions shown will vary depending on what was happening the day the particular photo was taken.  Photos looking back up the hill will be described as such.

Overview

  • Rated:  ?  ?  Old maps show it as a  and I think the signage shows that, but the more recent trail maps show it as .
  • Type of trail:  Moderately steep slope, not always groomed.  Conditions can vary considerably depending on the snow and which side of the trail you choose.  There is an odd fall line as well.
  • Take Chair Two and turn left as you exit the lift.  Pass the trail map and continue on and the trail will widen considerably.  On your right will be Hellroaring, on your left Ed's.  The statue of Jesus will be behind you.  Take Hellroaring at first, until it meets up with Heaven, which is just past the T-Bar and race shack by Nice Day.  It is very easy to miss this trail as it is hidden.
  • If you come over from the Chair One area, you'll take Big Ravine down its first pitch, then exit onto Interstate on the right.  That will bring you to the top of Mully's, but continue across to get to Ed's, then traverse some more to get to Hellroaring.
  • The left side of Heaven has a more traditional, but slightly steeper, fall line.  The right side (separated by a small grove of trees) is a "double fall line", but a more gradual slope.  Because of the slightly different aspects, sun and shade have a significant impact on conditions on one side of the trail compared to the other.
  • When you reach the bottom, you will want to keep up your speed a bit to get over to the lifts (over to skier's left) without poling.  If you want to wait for friends, do it while there is still downhill slope left.

Intersection of Hellroaring, Home Again, and Nice Day:

Take a good look, as this junction is quite confusing.  Heaven is sort of hidden beyond the race shack.:

Following the route shown above, you arrive at the top of Heaven:
