Cal's Country

(formerly called Fault 1.  Renamed for Cal Tassanari, a former patrol director, who lost a ski in this area during an avalanche)

Clicking on the photos enlarges them.  Photos are taken as you come down the hill.  They have been taken over several years, so conditions shown will vary depending on what was happening the day the particular photo was taken.  Photos looking back up the hill will be described as such.

Overview

  • Rated:
  • Type of trail:  Steep treed run, alongside Inspiration.  Some sections open, some gladed.  Some cliffs.
  • Accessed from Inspiration.  For purposes of this guide, I am using the bowl created by two faults as part of the UPPER ridge.  Cal's Country is just past No Name.
  • Cal's Country was called Fault 1 until just the past few years.  Inspiration cuts the original Fault 1 into 2 sections.  The left section is now Cal's Country,  The right section is an unmarked area between Upper Langley and Inspiration and still called Fault 1 by locals.  Both are lightly treed.
  • The exit from this area is either (keep an eye out) back onto Inspiration or...Haskill Slide, a .

Sign for Cal's Country is just barely seen in the center of the picture.  The sign off to the left is for No Name and (for some strange reason) Inspiration.  (Maybe to make sure you don't head down No Name by accident in the fog?)
